Important Terms You Should Know

C
Cannabinoids
The active chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant.

Cannabis Oil

Cannabidiol (CBD)

Capsules

Concentrates

Dabbing
A method of consuming concentrated THC by heating it on a hot surface and inhaling the resulting vapor.

Decarboxylation
The process of heating cannabis to activate the THC and CBD compounds, making them available for use.

Distillate
A highly purified form of cannabis oil that has been distilled to remove impurities.

Edibles
Food products infused with cannabis, such as brownies, gummies, and chocolates.

Flower
Dried and processed buds of the female marijuana plant, commonly consumed for its high THC and CBD content.

Hemp
A type of cannabis plant that is grown for industrial purposes, such as for paper, textiles, and biodegradable plastics.

Hybrid
A type of cannabis plant that is a cross between indica and sativa, resulting in a combination of their effects.

Indica
A type of cannabis plant known for its relaxing effects and typically grown for medicinal purposes.

Live Resin
A cannabis extract made by flash-freezing the plant after harvest to preserve the maximum amount of terpenes and other aromatic compounds.

Pre-roll
A term that refers to a pre-rolled marijuana cigarette, slangily known as a joint.

Rosin
A type of cannabis concentrate that is produced without the use of solvents.

Sativa
A type of cannabis plant known for its energetic and uplifting effects and typically grown for recreational purposes.

Shatter
A type of cannabis concentrate that is known for its translucent, glass-like appearance.

Strain
A unique variety of cannabis that is distinguished by its genetics, aroma, flavor, and effects.

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)
The most prominent cannabinoid that is responsible for producing the mind-altering and euphoric effects commonly associated with cannabis.

Topicals
Products applied to the skin, such as creams, lotions, and balms, that provide localized relief from pain and other symptoms.

Terpenes
Aromatic compounds found in cannabis that contribute to the plant’s flavor and aroma.

Tincture
A liquid form of cannabis extract that is usually taken sublingually (under the tongue) for fast and convenient absorption into the bloodstream.

Trichomes
Tiny, crystal-like structures on the surface of the cannabis plant that contain the plant’s most potent compounds.

Wax
